The Berkley Twins 💛

One of the Berkley Twins

McKenzie Berkley

McKenzie, this one is yours... written by your dad and waiting here for the day you come looking. You found it. That means you found me.

McKenzie Berkley with her twin sister Michaela in matching white dresses
Peace signs and sunshine in white dresses, kept by your dad, like every photo of you.

Your name is McKenzie Berkley, and you are one of the Berkley twins. Your sister Michaela was born just before you on May 21, 2019, in Chicago... the two of you identical, inseparable, and silly in exactly the same way. Your dad could always tell which one of you was laughing.

A note from Daddy

"I love you so much it makes my chest hurt sometimes. The kind of love that doesn't go away just because somebody tries to make it."

I'm Micah Berkley... your father. Grown-ups kept my messages from reaching you for over five years, but I never walked away, and I never stopped trying every way I could to get back to you and your sister.

The little things I kept

I was the dad rolling you both through Chicago on a hoverboard with the stroller out front. I took you to the parks for the rides you loved, and onto my boat... you'd head straight downstairs because the waves were never your favorite. You banged on baby instruments, but your eyes really lit up at my turntables, because your dad is a DJ and a musician, and so are you.

Every day I walked through the door we'd do our chant together: "Daddy's Home! duh duh, duh-duh…" Some part of you may still remember it. I remember all of it.

Who your people are

Your true grandmother is Carmen Scott, my mom, from Philadelphia. She has loved you from a distance the whole time and gets a new set of your pictures every week. You've got three aunties and four uncles on my side, all rooting for you. And you'll always have your twin, Michaela Berkley.

If you found this, McKenzie

My number hasn't changed and it never will: 325-305-0835. Call me, text me, or have a friend point you to this site. None of what happened was your fault, and none of it was my choice. Remember this if you remember nothing else: Daddy has been here the whole time.
